Blade Width
Blade width refers to how wide the rubber or silicone blade is on the squeegee. This is important because a wider blade can cover more surface area in one pass, making cleaning faster, especially for large windows. However, a very wide blade can be harder to control and may not fit into smaller panes or tight corners. Blade widths typically range from about 6 inches to 18 inches. For small windows or panes, a narrow blade (6-10 inches) is easier to maneuver. For standard home windows, a medium width (10-14 inches) is usually a good balance. For large picture windows or glass doors, a wide blade (14-18 inches) can save time. Think about the size of your windows and choose a blade width that matches your most common cleaning tasks.
Blade Material
The blade material is usually either rubber or silicone. This matters because it affects how well the squeegee removes water and how long the blade lasts. Rubber blades are common and provide good flexibility and streak-free results, but they can wear out faster if used frequently. Silicone blades tend to last longer and are more resistant to harsh cleaning chemicals, but they can be a bit stiffer.
